There was pandemonium at the Choiseul Secondary School Wednesday afternoon, when a cutlass-wielding male entered the school compound.
But no one was reported injured by the intruder whom police say is currently in custody at the Choiseul police station.
An eyewitness said the incident occurred shortly after lunch.
According to the eyewitness, a male student attacked the intruder’s sister.
As a result of that attack, the sister sustained facial injuries.
“He broke her glasses and burst her eye,” the eyewitness said of the assault on the female student.
The injured female, said to have been a peacemaker during an altercation between two other students, was rushed to hospital.
Following that incident, the injured female’s brother arrived at the school in search of her attacker.
But school security and teachers intervened.
And police eventually arrested him.
The eyewitness told St Lucia Times that the presence of the intruder at the school struck fear into the hearts of those present.
“Some students were screaming and crying,” the eyewitness said.
Someone posted a video of the cutlass-wielding youngster on the school compound on social media.
There are no further details at this time.
