Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has described a centenarian from the community of Desruisseaux as being ‘full of wit and energy’, despite her age.
Philomen Louisien celebrated her milestone event on Saturday with family and friends in her community of Desruisseaux, Chastanet disclosed on his official Facebook page.
“Still full of wit and energy she has been loved by all in the community and continues to be a fixture there,” the PM, who is also the MP for Micoud South observed.
He disclosed that the Desruisseaux centenarian has so many stories of life in Saint Lucia since 1920, having been through World War II and many other significant world events which affected day to day living.
“She remembers how life was so different to how it is today.” the PM wrote.
He said Louisien was well known as being the best farine maker in Desruisseaux and took pride being a farmer.
“A mother of eleven children, she was a dedicated mother. Her eighty two grandchildren and ninety six great grandchildren, play an active part in her life,” Chastanet stated.
“She is affectionately known as ‘mum’ since she selflessly shared with passersby and always had an encouraging word,” he noted.
