Don Howell Elected President Of SLTU

Don Howell was elected President of the Saint Lucia Teachers Union, according to preliminary results released by the Chairman of the union’s Election Commission, Thomas Boulogne.

Also elected to serve for a two-year period were Vern Charles (Vice President), Jules Simmons (Second Vice President – Unopposed), Chantal Peter (General Secretary), Dahlia Nuptial-Abbot (Deputy General Secretary), Utilda Joseph (Treasurer) and Public Relations Officer Alice Loreen Medard (Unopposed).

Election Commission Chairman Thomas Boulogne told St Lucia Times that there was a high voter turnout.

“We have at the moment preliminary results and  do not anticipate any changes based on the  number of votes counted,” Boulogne noted.

He disclosed that there were no issues in connection with the poll which went very smoothly

Boulogne explained that the next process will be the installation of the new executive at a biennial convention.
