Through an attorney, Saint Lucia Dermatologist, Herbalist, and Integrative Health Care Specialist, Dr. Gilbertha St Rose, is requesting information from the Saint Lucia Medical and Dental Council concerning allegations of misconduct against her.
St Rose requested the information on Tuesday.
“My lawyer and I sent in an affidavit stating that we wish to know specifically what they refer to as misconduct and negligence on my part so we can know what to respond to,” the physician explained in a statement to St Lucia Times.
“We, therefore, request a postponement in order to address their needs,” St Rose stated.
The Medical and Dental Council has requested the presence of St Rose at a virtual meeting on October 13.
The Council wants her to show cause why disciplinary action, including the suspension or cancellation of her registration, should not be taken against her for “professional acts of misconduct” between February 8, 2021, and August 30, 2021, and continuing.
The Council raised several charges, including prescribing and supplying Ivermectin to patients without authorisation from the Ministry of Health or the Chief Medical Officer and encouraging the use of the drug as a treatment for COVID-19 contrary to the expressed advice of the Chief Medical Officer.
However, St Rose is confident that she will be vindicated.
“I know negligence on my part would be not to persevere to make Ivermectin available to our people and tell them about it,” she asserted.
