Press Release – Prime Minister Hon. Allen M. Chastanet has promised to make education one of the priorities of the new government administration.

Mr. Chastanet said he was hearted to address the recent Lynchburg College graduating class of 2016 and to witness the achievements of the students.

“One of my first official events as your new prime minister was to address the Lynchburg College graduating class of 2016. I was so proud when I saw so many Saint Lucians graduating right here in Saint Lucia from a recognized US college. It signifies that Saint Lucians are not ready to settle for just a high school diploma, they are going all out to achieve successes at every level,” he said.

“That is why our government has pledged to make education one of our main priorities. Teachers play a very vital role in shaping the minds of our future generations and they deserve a lot more than what is afforded to them. Students, likewise, should be afforded every opportunity to pursue a tertiary education. It should not be limited to those who can afford or whose families can afford. Our government will invest heavily in education and to ensure that every student achieves success.”

The Prime minister said he also had the privilege of attending the Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School’s graduation ceremony.

“You are all capable of earning bachelors, masters and even doctorate degrees. The potential lies within you. Congratulations to all students who have and will be graduating this year. You have made your families proud.”
