Elderly Woman Hospitalised After Gros Islet Crash

Emergency personnel transported an elderly woman to hospital Sunday morning after an accident at Gros Islet.

They said the vehicle ended up in the sea opposite Sandals Grande.

An emergency official told St Lucia Times that the Gros Islet fire station responded about 10.20 am.

According to the official, the woman was the vehicle’s sole occupant.

She appeared to be in her eighties.

Reports indicate that the driver may have been trying to avoid a collision with an oncoming pickup.

However, emergency officials said the driver appeared not to have sustained life-threatening injuries.
