Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has announced an all clear for Saint Lucia with effect from 9.45 pm on Friday, July 2, 2021, following the passage of hurricane Elsa.
The Director of the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO), Dorine Gustave, conveyed the decision in a statement.
But she advised Saint Lucians to be cautious, since an assessment of damage caused by Elsa is still being conducted throughout this country.
Gustave explained that Elsa is moving away from Saint Lucia and the threats from the hazards associated with the weather system have diminished considerably.
As a result, the Saint Lucia Meteorological Services discontinued tropical storm warnings for the Island.
And Gustave disclosed that the Meteorological Services will issue no more advisories in relation to the hurricane.
Nevertheless, small craft operators are advised to remain in port, while residents in areas prone to flooding and landslides have been urged to exercise caution.
The Saint Lucia Meteorological Services will issue additional statements if the need arises, the NEMO Director stated.
