On Saturday, emergency responders extricated a man from a vehicle that crashed into a structure after running off the road near the NAPA building in Castries.

The Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) said the incident occurred shortly before midnight.

Crews from the Castries Headquarters responded and found the man trapped in the vehicle.

According to the responders, extrication was challenging due to the damage to the vehicle.

But eventually, the emergency personnel got the injured man out and transported him to the hospital.

They said he was in ‘unstable condition’ at the time.

A video on social media showed smoke emanating from the crashed vehicle and individuals throwing water at the car.

There are no further details at present.
