Hurricane Beryl continues to strengthen and is expected to still be a hurricane when it reaches the Lesser Antilles late Sunday or early Monday, the Saint Lucia Meteorological Services said.

According to the department, interests in Saint Lucia and the Lesser Antilles should continue to monitor Beryl as hurricane and tropical storm watches could be need for some of the Islands by Friday night.

The forecast said that at 11:am Friday, the hurricane was located near Latitude 10.7 North, Longitude 46.5 West, or about 1000 miles or 1610 km  East-South East of Saint Lucia.

“Beryl is moving towards the West near 15 mph or 24 km/h,” the Met Office observed.

It disclosed that a faster Westward to West-Northwestward motion is expected to begin over the weekend and continue through early next week.

On the forecast track , the centre of Beryl will approach the Lesser Antilles over the weekend and cross the island chain late Sunday or early Monday, the Met Office reported.
