Escapee From Saint Lucia Quarantine Facility Returns

A  young man who escaped from a Saint Lucia quarantine facility in the North of the Island has returned, a senior law enforcement official has confirmed.

The escape was recorded and posted on social media.

The official told St Lucia Times that the young man returned to the hotel where he and others who arrived here from Martinique Friday are being kept.

He said it followed a statement from the Acting Police Commissioner, Milton Desir.

Desir, who visited the quarantine facility Saturday morning, said the police had received reports that some of the detainees were misbehaving while others were even escaping.

He explained that it was an offence to leave a place of quarantine.

According to Desir, the returnees were placed in quarantine to prevent the possible spread of the COVID-19 virus.

National Security Minister Hermangild Francis has declared that it was a shame that after the government here and the Prefect of Martinique had gone to great lengths to facilitate the return of the Saint Lucians from Martinique despite the lock down in that country due to the spread of COVID-19, persons would want to put others at risk.

Francis also observed that  efforts was made to ensure that the returnees would be comfortable by putting them up at a hotel.

He said the authorities were in possession of the passports of the detainees and were checking to determine who are the individuals that are missing from the quarantine centre.

    • Only in St. Lucia this S*** can happen. Bunch of IGNORANT people. Imagine that!! It’s for our own safety… Come on you f#@&£ing son of a B****

  1. Awa for three ignorant people like the woman quarreling with the child acting like jungle people. She’s maybe unaware that’s a hotel neg mahwar

  2. It’s a shame it’s not just the people but the authorities not taking it seriously well hopefully it doesn’t spread in the community and that people other wise healthy won’t be in some serious health crisis because as you know we have some of the best hospitals in the islands and the millions of dollars in resources to take care of everyone.

How wonderful! First 5 escape the prison now this I feel so confident that we as a nation are well protected and secure

  3. Question is, do they have the Corona Virus? nonetheless he left and returned, what did he leave behind
before returning? can you guess? was it something valuable to him? When Chastanet wanted to put such
at Rat Island, Some very smart asses went into high-gear and as usual called him stupid. They would not
be able to just walk out of the place, jump into a waiting car, disappear and return at will. SEND THEM TO
RAT ISLAND FOR THREE WEEKS. supply them with coconut and dashin-fwet, communion and vespers.

  4. I am not a Saint Lucian, I am Welsh. But idiots like this are going to wreck your tourist ecconomy. Once everything settles here and vaccines are in and plane flies again, economy can get boosted again with tourism. We all need a holiday after isolation! My daughter was supposed to go back to Saint Lucia to do her Masters research on Pigeon Island’s coral reefs, but that is on hold until she is vaccinated not to spread anything to your country. Her education is now on hold for at least a year but going to be even longer if idiots do not listen to your government as Covid 19 will start clearing here but then you will all come down with it. Tourism will not pick up and imports/exports could get disrupted. This is not a game! Such a shame idiots like this do not listen. After quarrantine, arrest him, see if he like 6 months in jail any better! We have plenty of idiots here, do not let them get away with it there, name and shame! Hope you will all be ok over there and keep safe!
