The father of a Vieux Fort murder victim has called for an end to gun violence that has been plaguing this country, urging people instead to seek to settle whatever disputes they may have in a peaceful manner.
Mark Prescott recalled hearing three gunshots before discovering later that his son, Greg Prescott, had been killed.
“My first house was a plywood house, so I built a wall house in front of it. But he was living in the plywood house,” the father explained.
Police said the son was fatally shot about 2:15 am on Monday.
And St Lucia Times has confirmed that illegal firearm charges were pending against the deceased arising out of a incident last week.
The father said the police arrested Greg on Wednesday for possession of a gun and released him on Friday.
Mark Prescott said Greg died short of his 24th birthday.
“He was a cool fellow, but he was a bit troublesome, ” the father recalled.
Nevertheless, the father urged an end to violence and called on individuals to settle their issues peacefully.
“That’s how it has to be,” he asserted.
The father also declared that the judicial system should prosecute people who run afoul of the law quickly, to send a message to would-be perpetrators.
In this regard, Mark Prescott said the family of the late Greg Prescott wants justice.
