The father of a teenager whom gunmen fatally shot in Dennery Tuesday night says the people the youngster considered as friends were actually enemies.
Pius Laurent, aka ‘Rubadub’ described his deceased son Daniel Laurent, 17, as having been ‘irie’.
“Daniel was a youth man that wasn’t stubborn, he wasn’t disorderly,” Pius recalled.

But he said the youngster had companions whom he felt would protect him and take care of him.
However, the father told St Lucia Times that was not the case.
Pius said Daniel believed the individuals with whom he associated were friends, but they weren’t.
“They were enemies towards him – jealous of the way he moved and the way he lived, so he got victimised just for that,” the father explained.
He recalled that the last time he spoke to Daniel was on Monday morning.
Pius said he was asleep at home on Tuesday night when he got the news about his son’s death.
According to police, gunmen shot Daniel Laurent about 10.00 pm.
They say he was walking along a concrete path at White Rock at the time.
A law enforcement official told St Lucia Times that investigators recovered more than 20 shells from the scene.
