Fire Service Reports ‘Minimal Damage’ After Vieux Fort Fire

The Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) is reporting minimal damage after a Thursday morning fire in Vieux Fort.

The structural fire occurred at the corner of Commercial and Clarke Streets . 

SLFS spokeswoman Stacy Joseph disclosed that personnel from Vieux Fort Fire Station and Crash Fire Hall responded about 6.50 am.

She said responders found heavy smoke coming from the first floor of a two storey concrete structure.

“The fire was confined to the west corner of the commercial structure, which measures approximately 22 x 25 feet,” she disclosed.

Joseph said firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze using appropriate firefighting tactics.

As a result, there was minimal damage, she explained.

Joseph said there  were no reports of damage to other properties or personal injuries as a result of the fire.
