The Saint Lucia Fisherfolk Co-operative Society Limited (SLFCSL), on January 12 2021 paid tribute to one of their own, Mr Alva Lynch, at a small ceremony which took place at the Vieux Fort Fisheries Conference Room.
Represented were the primary fisherfolk societies around the island, the Departments of Fisheries and Cooperatives and the Board of Directors of SLFCSL.
Many echoed that they hold strongly to the concept of giving the roses whilst the individual is alive and that truly brought this to life.
It was a very emotional event where all praised Mr Lynch for his over three decades of service to the fishing sector.
He was described by many as reliable, knowledgeable and humble.
Mr Alva Lynch has served in many capacities: DPS Ministry of Agriculture, General Manager St Lucia Fish Marketing Corporation, Manager of the Castries Fishermen’s Cooperative Society Limited and Administrative Assistant at SLFCSL.
He will remain in the hearts and minds of all and will continue to be looked to for Counsel.
Mr Lynch expressed pleasure and gratitude for the gesture by his colleagues.
The emotional recipient, though pleasantly surprised, took a moment to applaud the gesture and to, in an expected manner, urge everyone to continue to work on behalf of the sector and the Fisherfolk which we serve in order to ensure the growth and development of the sector.
