Five Homeless In Vieux Fort Fire

Five people are homeless as a result of a Tuesday afternoon fire in Vieux Fort, emergency officials say.

The officials told St Lucia Times that the fire occurred at Calvary Hill.

The Vieux Fort and Micoud fire stations each responded with a fire truck after receiving a call about the blaze about 4:51 pm., it was reported.

The house was already engulfed in flames when the fire trucks arrived.

Fire service officials said the wooden and concrete structure measuring 50ft X 15ft was completely destroyed while a nearby residence was partially damaged.

No one was injured and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Just this week two elderly residents of Trou Rouge, Castries perished when fire swept through a wooden house early Saturday morning.
