Former Canadian Prime Minister Kim Campbell has tweeted that she is “rooting” for Hurricane Dorian to hit President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida.
“I’m rooting for a direct hit on Mar a Lago!” She tweeted on Wednesday, according to multiple international news reports.
The following day Campbell tweeted: “We will see if Mrs. Post’s design can stand up to the assault!”
According to Time Magazine, it was a reference to Marjorie Merriweather Post, the businesswoman and philanthropist who first built Mar-a-Lago in 1923 as a place to entertain her guests.
“”I know Palm Beach well and am sorry if it gets a big hit,” USA Today quoted the former Canadian PM as saying.
I wish I [could] believe that it [would] shake up Trump’s climate change denial! Only today his admin has removed [regulations] to limit methane- a worse GHG than CO2!” she continued in a tweet, according to the publication.
Talking Pointsmemo.com reported that Two days after Campbell’s initial tweet, Eric Trump responded by tweeting that the Trump family is “rooting for the safety” of people and businesses in Florida.
Dorian is forecast to make landfall Monday somewhere between southern Georgia and the Florida Keys.
