Veteran former media worker Harold George died Sunday morning about 3.30 am at Victoria Hospital after a brief illness, his family has confirmed.
Harold, known affectionately to his colleagues in the media as ‘Georgie’, was 70 years old.
He was the second of thirteen children and the brother of well known Saint Lucian broadcaster and journalist, Jerry George.
Jerry was a former General Manager of Radio Saint Lucia and President of the then Saint Lucia Media Workers Association.
Harold himself started in the media as a technician at Windward Islands Broadcasting Service (WIBS) in 1969.
But for most of his life he worked at the now defunct Radio Saint Lucia, retiring in 2014.
Harold is survived by his wife, Priscilla.
The couple had no children.
Harold’s death has been an emotional blow for the George family.
The eldest sister, Christine, was buried about a month ago.

Members of the media fraternity remember him as an extremely pleasant, calm individual who had an ‘extra special temperament for hard work and long hours.
‘Others described the veteran former media worker as a gentle soul, a ‘special friend’ and a ‘genuinely nice man’ who had decades of media experience and a wealth of knowledge.
