Former Saint Lucia Prime Minister, Dr. Kenny Anthony has declared that ‘It’s amazing what elections and Pan Sunday can do,’ while asserting that he has been reliably informed that the government has finally commenced renovation works at the Vieux Fort police station.
Anthony, who is the MP for Vieux Fort South and a former leader of the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP), made the remarks on his official Facebook page.
He observed that the SLP administration built the Vieux Fort police station, which served as the Southern Divisional Headquarters.
And Anthony also said that the station was operating out of rented premises on Clarke Street, Vieux Fort, since 2019.
“Since then, I have made several public appeals to the government to address the issues at the police station, because the conditions under which the police are operating are not ideal,” the former PM recalled.
However, he said each response was filled with excuses and blame.
But Anthony asserted that it took impending elections and desperation on the part of Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet, to finally get work started.
