A GoFundMe appeal has been launched on behalf of Bois Patat, Castries, resident Georgiana Mathurin, who became the victim of an unprovoked cutlass attack on May 17, 2021, by a man whom residents say is mentally deranged.
The man, identified by law enforcement as Bradly Cole, also attacked a male resident of the community before fleeing.
But police eventually shot Cole days later during a confrontation at Caye Mange after officers went to investigate a report of a robbery.
Investigators said at the time that Cole attacked them with a knife.
He is currently remanded at Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF) on charges of grievous harm and assaulting a police officer.
In addition, Cole will be the subject of a psychiatric evaluation.
The GoFundMe page set up on behalf of his female victim says Georgiana Mathurin received several wounds to her body after being chopped.
“My mother has done two surgeries one in the arm and the other in the right knee to repair damaged bones,” the fundraiser launched by Cephas John states.
It disclosed that the victim is unable to use her hand and leg and has been in bed ever since where she has recently developed two blood clots in the lungs and had to be hospitalised again.
“I am setting up this GoFundMe for my mom because I can’t afford to handle all the medicals bills, treatments and medication on my own. I would really appreciate if you can help me by donating anything you can at this time as she needs some of the medication as soon as possible,” the appeal concluded.
The goal is to raise USD 10,000.
