Good Samaritan Survives Electric Shock In Freak Accident

A  Good Samaritan survived an electric shock Friday night when he and others went to assist a driver whose vehicle had crashed into a utility pole, it has been reported.

Saint Lucia Fire Service officials say the Gros Islet station received a call in relation to the incident on the highway at Massade, Gros Islet, about 8.10 pm.

According to reports, security guards on their way to Sandals Grande in an Alternative Security Services vehicle observed when another vehicle ahead of them hit the utility pole.

A security company employee told St Lucia Times that the security guards pulled over and went to assist.

While they were rendering assistance the utility pole came crashing down, delivering an electric shock to one of the Good Samaritans, the employee explained.

The employee said  two others sustained minor injuries.

An ambulance from the Gros Islet fire station later transported the guard who suffered the electric shock to hospital, according to emergency officials.

The company for which the hospitalised guard works disclosed that he was in stable condition Saturday morning.

A fire service official told St Lucia Times that the driver of the vehicle that crashed into the utility pole sustained minor injuries and declined an offer to be transported by ambulance to hospital.
