Gros Islet police Friday morning detained four males on suspicion of entering Saint Lucia illegally from neighbouring Martinique, law enforcement officials say.

According to the officials, the men were transported to a quarantine facility.

It was reported that the men had jumped off a vessel that had encountered problems and were seen making it to shore.

The police are said to have been on the beach at the time – about 8.00 am.
