Police in Guadeloupe have taken a man into custody, after he allegedly killed his parents on Friday night, local reports say.
The incident occurred in the Morne Fleurent district.
According to media reports, the suspect is in his forties and is said to suffer from mental illness.
He allegedly stabbed his parents, who were both in their eighties, to death.
Someone alerted police after discovering the bodies of the couple in a pool of blood at their home.
However by the time the police arrived, the suspect had fled to his own home about 50 metres away and barricaded himself inside.
And when attempts to get him to surrender failed, a special police unit forced its way into the house and arrested him although the suspect tried to attack them.
