Guinness Street Football Regionals continue

After weeks of electrifying qualifying legs, 10 country teams are here in Saint Lucia for the Guinness Street Football.

The Guinness Street Football Challenge, now in its sixth year, promises to showcase the Caribbean region’s best talent from the grass street level.

Speaking about the importance of this challenge at the Welcome Cocktail reception last evening, Trinidadian Dwight Yorke, a former Manchester United Player and Ambassador of the Guinness Street Football Caribbean Championship 2016, mentioned how fortunate the participants of this challenge are because many before them weren’t afforded the opportunity. He also commented on how life changing the tournament will be for the winning team.

“Brazil is the home of football; anyone who is serious about football not only needs the discipline and the determination to become successful but a trip to Brazil is almost a necessity because of the mark the country has left in the sport.”

Matches are scheduled to begin at 4pm at The Ramp on Saturday July 2nd and Sunday July 3rd.. Admission to the event is free and the public is invited to come out to support their home country, Saint Lucia as the local winning team tries to regain the title of Champion for 2016 competition. There will performances by local artistes and demonstrations by Guinness Football Ambassador, Philip Gertsson.
