A lone gunman opened fire at a Vieux Fort bus driver Friday night, but hit a bystander instead.
The bystander happened to also be a bus driver, eyewitnesses say.
According to persons familiar with the case, the incident occurred Friday night about 8.00 pm on the Vieux Fort-Laborie Highway.
They told St Lucia Times it all started when one of the drivers raised an alarm and ran after a male individual whom he accused of stealing cash from his bus.
An eyewitness said the driver later saw the man counting some money at the back of a building.
But the male whom the driver was pursuing whipped out a gun and fired at his pursuer when challenged.
The pursuer was not hurt.
However, a stray bullet struck another driver who sustained a wound to the side of his head.
The victim is currently a patient at St Jude Hospital.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
