Guy Joseph Makes Bold Election Predictions

Castries South East MP, Guy Joseph, made several bold election predictions Monday night, including more votes for him from people who supported the opposition.

“This time around I am going to get much more support from people who used to support the labour party,” Joseph declared.

He told GDV TV that his comments were not meant to make the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) look bad.

But Joseph explained that he goes throughout his constituency where key SLP supporters have assured him of their support.

“They didn’t say they want to support me because they want a favour – they want a benefit,” he observed.

“They are just happy with the work we have done in the constituency,” Joseph stated.

But we went further.

“The first labour party seat we are going to win this time around is Castries South,” Joseph declared.

However, Joseph acknowledged that there are surprises in politics.

Nevertheless, he said the surprise would be if the ruling United Workers Party (UWP) does not win Castries South.

Joseph went on express his belief that five labour party seats are in contention for the UWP to win.

“But from what I see, three of them I would say, are 80 percent leaning towards the United Workers Party,” he said.

And he indicated that the basis for the trend is the performance of the government.

General elections are due later this year.

In the last elections of June 6, 2016, the UWP won eleven seats compared to the SLP’s 6.
