Guyana authorities have suspended a doctor and two nurses from the New Amsterdam hospital after a mother and baby died.
Stabroek News reported that Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony made the announcement on Thursday.
Anthony said an investigation found the doctor and two nurses were negligent.
As a result, the authorities took immediate stepsĀ to suspend them.
Vanessa Lewis-Sahadeo and her baby died last week.
The mother died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) in the wee hours of Saturday.
The Guyana Chronicle reported that officials rushed her there from the New Amsterdam Hospital after she gave birth to her baby girl.
The child had died earlier at the New Amsterdam Hospital on Friday.
