Guyana Police Announce Campaign Against Firecrackers

Guyana police say they will crackdown on the use of firecrackers and other illicit explosives, local eports say.

According to Stabroek News, the law enforcement officers say that those persons found in possession of the items will be prosecuted.

In a statement issued on Friday, the GPF said it has embarked on a zero tolerance campaign as the explosives often contribute to serious bodily harm and injury to both users and bystanders, the publication reported.

“There were instances in the past when both children and adults experienced grievous bodily harm during the use of these firecrackers and we urge all concerned to exercise the necessary care and caution when deciding to allow themselves to engage in the purchase of firecrackers,” the police statement was quoted as saying.

  1. Most of us enjoyed fire crackers in past days.Course they were not the tipe we see these days.Accidents allways happened, but goverment never banned the elements,How life has changed
