‘He Was A Hero To Many, Including Myself’

Opposition leader Allen Chastanet has paid tribute to the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who died Sunday at 90.

Chastanet had quoted Tutu in a Christmas Message to Saint Lucians.

“When I used Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s quote that ‘Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness’ in the opening of my 2021 Christmas message, I would never imagine that just a day later the world would be mourning his passing,” he stated.

“He was a hero to many, including myself,” Chastanet observed.

The former Saint Lucia Prime Minister said this was because of Tutu’s stance against apartheid, his moral courage and because he always stood on principle.

“Whether it be his advocacy on Human rights, climate change, poverty or peace, Desmond Tutu did his part to make South Africa and the wider world a better place. I am sure that the Almighty will welcome him with open arms and the words “Well done my good and faithful servant,”” Chastanet wrote.

  2. What a shameless thread. Chastenet lives rent free in the heads of all his haters. Desmond TuTu would have chosen to sit with Allen Chastanet over all of you who look down on him. St Lucia times has gotten so boring yawnnnnning 🙄 . Same old people repeating the same old crap.

Desmond tutu served the Catholic church a step in the wrong direction but he still was a man of principal and stood for what many are fighting for today. Anyway carry on haters because that’s all y’all can do 🙄 Feed off of hate while hiding behind a keyboard typing sh!t.

It use to be fun reading some of y’all comments but now,it’s gotten so old and outdated. Yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnning

  3. Allen Chastanet you have to practice what you preach. You were head of your own apartheid system in St Lucia.. You have degrade our black women ( publicly), you and your family at the the height of apartheid built your empire on the backs of poor St Lucian’s. You monopolized grocery import to St Lucia in earnest charged poor St Lucians exorbitant prices for close to 30yrs many struggle to get by daily.. You have sold out this Nation to the highest bidder displacing poor St Lucians, from the farmers to our local fishermen. You have left this nation distraught economically, fiscally and emotionally. So I don’t know what inspiration you drew from Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu, when your unprincipled profilic deeds against a nation and it’s people speaks volume.
