The Saint Lucia Fire Service has reported a total of 73 ambulance responses in the North and South of the Island on the weekend and today.

Two of the calls related to motor vehicle accidents.

This morning at approximately 7:05 a.m., the Fire Service was informed of a motor vehicle accident on the Bexon Highway.

Two vehicles were involved in a head on collision.

Personnel from Fire Service Headquarters and Gros Islet Fire Station responded and subsequently transported 4 patients to the Victoria Hospital.

Yesterday at approximately 1:34 a.m. the Fire Service received a call about a motor vehicle accident at Mon Repos, Micoud.

One vehicle, with 5 occupants on board, ran off the road and struck a utility pole, resulting in a double fatality.

The occupants were trapped inside of the vehicle and had to be extricated.

Four responding stations transported all the persons involved to the St Jude Hospital via ambulance, where one individual is in critical condition.

The Fire Service also reported receiving 3 fire calls for the weekend.

One related to a fire in Fond St. Jaques, Soufriere, where an unattended stove is reported to have been the cause of the blaze.

Another fire was reported in Coolie Town, Grace, Vieux Fort, involving a washing machine stored in a garage.

The washing machine caught ablaze and the fire spread to some nearby items.

Both Fires were extinguished before the arrival of the dispatched Fire Fighting crews.

The other fire occurred yesterday in Belair, Castries, where a dwelling house, which measured approximately 60×60 feet was damaged.

There were no reports of any injuries in relation to the fires.
