Doctor Gale Rigobert has said that she is excited about her new ministerial role.

Rigobert has asserted that she is also confident that together with her staff, the changes that are needed can be implemented.

The Micoud North MP has responsibility for Education, Innovation, Gender Relations and Sustainable Development.

She disclosed that yesterday morning she met with senior officials of the Ministry of Education and some other staff.

“I must thank them for a very warm welcome,” the minister said.

Rigobert revealed that similar meetings will be held today with the sustainable development and innovation team.

“I will be meeting with senior officials there to continue rationalization of the ministry and harmonization of the agencies, to ensure we are all single minded about the vision and purpose of the Ministry,” the new minister stated.

She recalled that gender relations was previously part of another ministry.

As a result, Doctor Gale Rigobert observed that she will have to engage with them to determine a way forward.

She asserted that the four portfolios she has been given are very important.

“If I daresay they form the bedrock of our society,” the minister declared.

She stated that she has every confidence, especially given the reception she received at the Ministry of Education, that the changes that are needed can be implemented to offer a better product.

The Micoud North MP and former leader of the parliamentary opposition, spoke of the need to ensure that children receive an education to prepare them, not only for work in Saint Lucia, but regionally and internationally.

“I will be moving around to become familiar with other agencies that fall under my portfolio, confident that we can do what this country needs urgently – that is to pool and marry the human resources we have for the benefit of all,” the new minister said.
