Saint Lucian poet, playwright, actor, director and singer, Gandolph St. Clair, died Sunday after a bout with illness, a family member has confirmed.

St Lucia Times was informed that St. Clair passed away at 9:50 am.

He is reported to have collapsed at his home on Monday of last week and was rushed to hospital via ambulance but his condition worsened.

Gandolph St. Clair was a former Director of Carnival and the author of several poems, plays and short stories.

Among the many accolades he received during his lifetime was the award of the Saint Lucia Medal of Merit Gold for his long and dedicated contribution to culture and the arts.
