Hilaire Urges Government To End Favouritism In Applying COVID-19 Protocols

Castries South MP, Dr. Ernest Hilaire, has called on the Allen Chastanet administration to be consistent in applying COVID-19 protocols.

“Stop applying the protocols with favouritism,” Hilaire asserted.

“Already we have situations where some can play golf when they really ought not to, but our footballers cannot practise for world cup qualifiers,” he observed.

He told reporters Tuesday during a news conference that there are two Saint Lucias.

“Some people have their passes and they can gather and no one will stop them,” Hilaire observed.

As a result, he said those individuals have birthday parties in certain parts of the country, but others cannot.

Nevertheless, Hilaire said the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) wants all Saint Lucians to observe the COVID-19 protocols.

” We believe that COVID remains a very serious threat to Saint Lucia,” the opposition MP explained.

And he indicated that it was important for people to observe the protocols, especially on the Easter weekend when people are likely to gather on the beaches, ‘lime’ and have fun.
