Hooded Gunmen Kidnap Wounded Saint Lucian From Martinique Hospital

Burly hooded gunmen drove fear into the hearts of staff and patients of Martinique’s La Meynard hospital in Fort de France, when they entered the building and kidnapped a Saint Lucian national who had earlier sustained gunshot wounds.

Martinique 1Ere quoted a hospital employee as saying that the invaders struck after 9.30 pm on Saturday.

But employee spoke on condition of anonymity for obvious reasons.

The worker reported hearing a ‘deafening sound’ like that of an IV pole falling to the ground.

Martinique 1 Ere also quoted hospital patients as saying that the intruders told the wounded Saint Lucian in creole that they had come for him.

However according to the patients, he objected to going with them.

Local reports identified the kidnap victim as a 38 year old Saint Lucian national who has been living in Martinique for the past year.

According to the reports, the kidnappers took him to a waiting car and shoved him into the trunk.

The victim has earlier sustained three gunshot wounds as a result of a separate incident.

And he had been in hospital since Sunday, April 11, for  medical attention.

Three other patients were in the same ward with him when the gunmen stormed the ground floor of the hospital and took him away.

Law enforcement officers are investigating.
