Inter School Cricket Tournament Underway

Press Release:– The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports’ 2019 Secondary School 40-Over Cricket Tournament began this Wednesday with three matches. Victories were recorded for St Mary’s College over Babonneau Secondary; Micoud Secondary over Clendon Mason Memorial Secondary and Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary over Choiseul Secondary.

At the Balata Playing Field, St Mary’s College led by a 6 wicket haul from Jayxan Justin recorded a hard fought 6 run victory over the Babonneau team. St Mary’s College bat first, after being inserted by Babonneau Secondary in tough batting conditions was dismissed for 86 in 15.1 overs, with Stephen Abraham making 24 and Mikael Jn Baptiste and Cleyanus Jules with 10 each.
Bowling for Babonneau Secondary, Daniel Kennedy 3 for 21 in 4 overs, Tyler St Omer 2 for 7 in 2.1 overs, Tarrique Edward 2 for 9 in 3 overs and Jaden Florent 2 for 21 in 3 overs. In reply, Babonneau Secondary was dismissed for 81 in 20.5 overs with Jordon Faucher making 23, Jaden Florent 14 and Daniel Kennedy 10. Bowling for St Mary’s College, Jayxan Justin 6 for 16 in 6 overs, Denzel Fredrick 2 for 15 in 3 overs and 1 wicket each to Aaron Joseph and captain Jeandel Cyril.
RESULT: St Mary’s College defeated Babonneau Secondary by 6 runs.
At the La Ressource Playing Field in the Mabouya Valley, Micoud Secondary made light work Clendon Mason, defeating them by 9 wickets. Clendon Mason Memorial batting first was dismissed for 16 in 6.3 overs. Doing the damage with the ball for Micoud Secondary were, Alextus Charles with 5 wickets and Curlon Charles with 4 wickets. In reply, Micoud Secondary easily reached their target finishing on 17 for 1 in 4.5 overs.
RESULT: Micoud Secondary defeated Clendon Mason Memorial Secondary by 9 wickets.
At the Piaye Playing Field, Soufriere Comprehensive defeated Choiseul Secondary by 12 runs. Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary batting first made 137 all out in 25.5 overs with Kevin Gassie making 47 and Risa Alfred 12. Bowling for Choiseul Secondary, Neige Eugene 5 for 19 in 4.5 overs and Genevieve John 2 for 42 in 4 overs.
 In reply, Choiseul Secondary was dismissed for 125 in 24.3 overs with Jamal Lawerence making 13 not out and Jaeem St Amie 11. Bowling for Soufriere Comprehensive, Zinadmie Regis 4 for 26 in 5 overs, John Modeste 2 for 31 in 7 overs and Kevin Gassie 2 for 34 in 7 overs.
RESULT: Soufriere Comprehensive Secondary defeated Choiseul Secondary by 12 runs.
