Press Release:– In response to a proposal put forward by India at the UN General Assembly in 2014 for adoption of June 21 as the International Day of Yoga (IDY), which was co-sponsored by 177-member countries and approved by 193-members UN GA by consensus, June 21 was declared as the International Day of Yoga by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on December 11, 2014.
Accordingly, IDY is being celebrated by the international community since 2015.
The previous all the four editions of IDY have been a great success with the participation of millions of Yoga enthusiasts across the globe.
The 5th IDY is being celebrated this year world over at even grander scale befitting its importance with one of the themes being promoted is the usage of eco-friendly products which are not made of PVC and synthetics, as Yogic lifestyle is all about living consciously and sustainably.
High Commission of India, St. Lucia with residence in Paramaribo, and Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Government of India, New Delhi in association with Indian Cultural Foundation & Yoga Organisations in St. Lucia, will be celebrating the 5th International Day of Yoga on :

The Yoga event will provide participants with the opportunity to learn simple yoga practices to be incorporated in daily routine to lead a healthy and wholesome life.
The IDY protocol to be demonstrated at the event comprises of some Asanas and simple breathing techniques which have been found to be very effective by the international community in relieving stress, obesity and depression.
The yoga enthusiasts and people from all walks of life and students are encouraged to participate in the international yoga event and benefit from the Asanas. There is no fee for participation.
