A Babonneau family is demanding justice after the death of a man who was found bound hand and foot in a blazing building in the community on Christmas Day.

Police say Winston Dosithee, 51, of Chassin, Babonneau, passed away the following day at the Owen King European Union Hospital (OKEUH).

Two men from Chassin, Babonneau where the fire occurred, heard the screams of the deceased coming from the burning structure – a store room that had been converted into living quarters, a family member told St Lucia Times.

According to the family member, the men rushed to his aid, pulling him from the small structure that was on fire.

The relative told St Lucia Times that Dosithee suffered second and third degree burns and appeared to have been beaten up.

“Alvin was not a trouble maker,” the family member disclosed while expressing horror that someone could perpetrate such a crime against another human being.

“He was jubilant, friendly, popular guy,” it was disclosed.

The family member called for justice to be served, declaring that there is a God who will deal with the perpetrators accordingly if they are not caught.

The relative also called on those responsible to turn themselves in.

According to law enforcement officials, about 4.30 am on Christmas Day, Babonneau police responded to a report of arson at Chassin, Babonneau.

They disclosed that when the officers arrived, they were informed that a maleĀ  who had been bound with cloth material had been pulled from the burning residence.

The police said he had extensive burns about the body.

The victim was taken to hospital where he later succumbed.
