Kentucky Fried Chicken is putting a temporary pause on the use of its ‘Finger Lickin’ Good’ slogan, announcing that the slogan does not fit the current COVID-19 environment, international news reports say.
The fast food chain has been using the slogan for the past 64 years.
According to Sky News, The US fried chicken chain has released new images of advertising posters and packaging with the slogan blurred and pixelated.
“We find ourselves in a unique situation – having an iconic slogan that doesn’t quite fit in the current environment,” Sky News quoted Catherine Tan-Gillespie, global chief marketing officer at KFC as saying.
The BBC reported that KFC’s finger-lickin’ message has caused concern since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
It said in March, the Advertising Standards Authority received 163 complaints about a KFC TV advert which featured people licking their fingers.
