Former Prime Minister, Stephenson King, has highlighted the need for discipline as Saint Lucia grapples with mounting cases of COVID-19.
“I think the Prime Minister has made pronouncements on this matter of a shutdown. I personally believe what what we need to do is discipline our people,” the Castries North MP told reporters outside parliament Tuesday.
He declared that people must take responsibility for their behaviour.
King said they must appreciate that COVID-19 is real.
“We can live with COVID, but we must operate within a manner and a behaviour that allows us to survive,” he explained.
“The economy can remain open while we protect ourselves – we follow the protocols,” King asserted.
According to the Minister for Infrastructure, Ports, Energy and Labour, all must take responsibility for wearing masks, observing social distancing and sanitising.
“You have to at all times be mindful of the dangers that are around,” King observed.
On Tuesday, Saint Lucia recorded three new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases diagnosed in country to 226.
