Castries North MP, Stephenson King, has urged motorists to give workers on the Morne Du Don to Balata Road Reconstruction Project the thumbs up when in the area.
“I am extremely happy about this project, which brings an end to years of talk about upgrading the “northern backroads,” the former Prime Minister disclosed last week on his official Facebook page.
“My Government of #Workers has shown again that we know how to get the job done. So whilst they talk, we work – better than they ever have,” he declared in what appeared to be a swipe at the opposition Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP).
King observed that the Morne Du Don to Balata Road Reconstruction Project has become a priority given the high influx of new vehicles into Saint Lucia.
He noted that these popular backroads serve as an important alternative to the busy city commute and traffic congestion.
According to the Minister of Infrastructure, Ports, Energy and Labour, the project scope includes road widening and realignment, complete reconstruction of approximately 2349 meters of road and construction of drainage and retaining walls.
He observed that the project will create an estimated seventy full-time jobs throughout its duration.
“The current crew of workers are full of energy and vibes. Be sure to give them the thumbs up when next you drive-by. I would also like to encourage drivers to pay attention to the signs and proceed with caution when traversing the project site,” King wrote on his official Facebook page.
