The driver of a La Clery bus has become Saint Lucia’s latest homicide victim, police say.
Law enforcement officials have identified the deceased as Josephat Charles.
He is also known as Glen Melvin Charles, according to a colleague.
Charles’ body was discovered in a bus in an area of Cul de Sac Saturday afternoon.
According to information, the body had what appeared to be multiple stab wounds.
The President of the National Council on Public Transportation, Godfrey Ferdinand, disclosed that two bus drivers have died in the past week.
He told St Lucia Times that the other deceased was a member of the Monchy Minibus Association.
Ferdinand expressed condolences to the relatives of the two deceased.
He said in the case of the driver from the La Clery Minibus Association, the council would await an investigation to know what occurred.
“I cannot say anything except to say that we know he had stab wounds, but the investigation will reveal what really happened, but for now we cannot comment on the matter,” Ferdinand told St Lucia Times.
Colleagues said the deceased La Clery bus driver had been a bus driver for over twenty years.
He was also a former basketball coach at St Mary’s College.
