As one of Saint Lucia’s leading employers, Flow has a proud record of strong female leadership. The company has had a woman as country manager, and women not only outnumber men on staff, but are well represented amongst the senior management of the local business unit. For that matter, Flow’s parent company, Cable & Wireless Caribbean, is now led by a woman, in the person of Chief Executive Officer, Inge Smidts.
V. Chris Williams and the men of the senior leadership team presented the ladies of Flow with flowers and a three-pack of Strongbow Elderflower, compliments of Windward and Leeward Brewery Ltd. In his message to staff, Chris noted that whereas women are making great strides, barriers still exist. He encouraged his female colleagues to aim high and reminded them that their voices are always being heard.
“Never forget that your voices are powerful, your contributions are important, and your influence is vital. Always believe that you can achieve anything.
“As the father of two amazing young women and the son of a strong and self-reliant mother, I know of some of the challenges faced by our women. In the workplace and the wider society, we must “press for progress” by encouraging women to participate in public discourse and public service. We must celebrate the journeys of our women role models, and work to put women in positions where they can more meaningfully impact our communities. Some progress is being made, but we cannot rest on our laurels until all women are safe, proud and prosperous.”
