Learning Academy of Basketball to Host Development Camp In Saint Lucia

Press Release:–  On Saturday June 29th 2019, the Saint Lucia Basketball Federation together with the Learning Academy of Basketball (L.A.B) will be hosting the first of what promises to be many development camps at the Beausejour Indoor Facility.

Attendees will benefit from firsthand knowledge courtesy L.A.B founders – Saint Lucian, Gregory Griffith (President) and Daniel Hilferty IV (Vice President).

The two who began their basketball relationship as a player/coach at The University of Scranton in Pennsylvania, have been students of the game of basketball for more than 20 years.

The camp, apart from focusing on basketball essentials, will seek to teach players core values (teamwork, sacrifice, communication, leadership, and hard work) which are applicable to all aspects of life coupled with a special focus on health and socioeconomic issues.

According to President of the St. Lucia Basketball Federation, Leslie Collymore, on the partnership with The L.A.B, “we continually strive to make our sport one of the most accessible through variety of young athlete development programmes. For 2019, one such initiative is a Youth Camp in collaboration between the SLBF and the not-for-profit organization that aides teens in becoming successful leaders of their families, communities and the world by bringing adults and children from different backgrounds together in a cultural exchange, Learning Academy of Basketball out of the U.S.A.”

Through the sport of basketball and through sports-based educational sessions, L.A.B promotes a healthy lifestyle, mind, body and spirit through the discipline, dedication, and hard work needed to achieve success.

Over the years the Saint Lucia Basketball Federation has aggressively pursued all avenues to fulfill its mandate to create opportunities for Saint Lucian youth male and female, through the sport of basketball.

Free registration can be done on the day from 9:30a.m. The camp begins promptly at 11 am.
