LIAT announces flight disruptions ahead of potential cyclone

Regional airline LIAT has announced disruptions to its services as the Windward Islands braces for the impact of potential tropical cyclone #9.

The disruptions affects flights between St Lucia, Barbados, Dominica, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad.

In a message released today the airline said flights have been retimed or cancelled due to the impending passage of the cyclone.

“In order to transport passengers to their destinations safely and to reposition our aircraft to operational airports, several flights today have been retimed and cancelled. LI 393 will be retimed to depart Barbados at 6:00 p.m.,” the statement said.

The following flights have been cancelled for Thursday 17th August, 2017:

LI 369 from St. Lucia to Barbados
LI 769 from Barbados to St. Vincent
LI 770 from St. Vincent to Barbados
LI 567 from Dominica to Barbados
LI 523 from Dominica to Barbados
LI 307 from Barbados to Grenada
LI 738 from Port of Spain to St. Vincent

Passengers who have been affected will be allowed to rebook within the next two weeks with all change fees waived.

However LIAT says passengers who decide to travel but are unable to complete their journey due to disruption caused by weather conditions, will not be provided with meals, transportation, hotel accommodation etc.

Passengers with onward connections are advised to contact the respective regional and international carriers.

  1. The last time this happened, I got stuck 3 days on the airport and LIAT handled the situation very poorly. Let’s hope they’re a bit more organized. All the best Mrs. Julie Reifer-Jones.
