A male individual estimated to be in his forties was injured Thursday night in a shooting incident in Castries, emergency officials say.
Saint Lucia Fire Service spokeswoman Stacy Joseph told St Lucia Times that an emergency call came in to the Castries Fire Station Thursday at approximately 9:10 p.m.
She said the caller stated that there was a shooting incident near the Castries Health Centre.
“The responding officers found one male appearing to be in his forties in a sitting position on the scene,” Joseph disclosed.
She noted that an assessment revealed that the patient sustained penetrating wounds to his chest and arm.
Joseph said his wounds were treated and he was transported in a stable condition to the OKEU hospital, where he was left in the care of medical personnel.
