A man shot his own sister at Vanard, Castries on Friday evening, it has been reported.

A law enforcement official told St Lucia Times the alleged incident occurred about 10.00 pm.

Acting Assistant Commissioner responsible for Crime Management, George Nicholas, told a news conference Monday that a matter was reported to the police alleging that a brother shot his sister.

But Nicholas disclosed that the sister has indicated that she does not want to pursue any court action.

.”The police did respond to a report of that nature,” the senior police official confirmed.

Asked what the police would do under the circumstances seeing that the sister did not want to pursue court action, Nicholas explained that there are certain actions that law enforcement can take.

“Once a victim is not interested in pursuing a matter of that nature, there is very little the police can do in relation to the matter where the victim sustained injuries, but as it relates to other issues relating to that matter the police can do quite a bit,” he told reporters.
