Martinique Begins COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign

Martinique Thursday began a vaccination campaign against COVID-19, local reports say.

According to the reports, the authorities are giving priority to frontline workers.

They include nursing staff, firefighters and home helpers over 50 years old.

Medical officials are administering the Pfizer and BioNTech vaccines with the consent of patients.

Martinique.FranceAntilles reports that the the Air Force delivered the first doses on January 5.

The publication said  Martinique has received nearly 4,000 units.

The authorities put them in a special freezer at the Martinique University Hospital.

Health officials say the first phase of the vaccination campaign will last for about 8 weeks.
