Martinique Facing Water Crisis

As Saint Lucia copes with a water-related emergency which became official on Monday, neighbouring Martinique is facing a water crisis.

Reports from the French speaking Island say the water flow in rivers is decreasing.

Martinique 1ere quoted the Mayor of Gros-Morne as declaring that there is a risk of a water shortage in the coming days.

“We have never known this before,” Gilbert Couturier asserted.

The authorities are planning to deal with the situation of a possible general water shortage by, among other things, trucking water and installing tanks in neighbourhoods.

Community water conservation initiatives are also planned to raise awareness about not wasting water by washing cars or filling swimming pools.

  1. Wow. You You’ll trying to look for ways to justify wasco’s ineptitude. Martinique has France to come to their aid, while we on the other hand have a set of iniquity workers called the government who don’t give a damn about us.

  2. Plus they have taken the initiative to build water tanks, and truck waters to communties. The only place you going to see water being trucked during this crisis is up north to the various hotels, or those with the means to pay for the service. Not to the communities that have gone days and weeks without water.

  3. Well said DCP, 👍
Plus do we care about Martinique? We have our own issues!
Wasco needs to come into 21st century. It’s operation is outdated and useless … what is needed is a de-salination plant .. (we are surrounded by water for god sake) and then we can have potable water. It’s used worldwide! Problem is nobody will want to spend on that investment and look after the people on the island … they rather spend on lining their own pockets …. with tourism. Let’s see if there’s a water shortage when they re open hotels!!!!!!!!
