Health Minister Mary Isaac’s assassination claims have again been spotlighted, following the murder of Saint Lucian businessman John Baptiste Honora.
Honora was shot multiple times Wednesday night at Reduit.
The 55 year old was the owner of Stamp Rite.
Castries South MP Doctor Ernest Hilaire told St Lucia Times the killing of the La Guerre, Babonneau, resident clearly appeared to be very targeted.
He recalled that Health Minister Mary Isaac had asserted that people in authority are involved in such acts.
Isaac made the comments during a candlelight vigil for former City Councillor, Victor Maurice.
Maurice died in Martinique last month.
He was taken to the neighbouring Island for medical treatment after being shot at his home here in November last year.
Mary Isaac told a vigil in his memory that someone was sent to kill Maurice.
She declared that crime is big business in this country driven by people “very far up – up there in the hierarchy” of Saint Lucia.
With the murder Wednesday night of John Baptiste Honora, Doctor Ernest Hilaire has renewed calls for Isaac to tell the police what she knows about the death of Victor Maurice.
“Surely somebody should ask her to clarify what she knows and what the cabinet will be doing about it. We have to be concerned as citizens as to what is going on in the country,” Hilaire told St Lucia Times.
“I think the minister has a responsibility to come out to the public and say she has spoken with the police and provided them with the information that she has regarding the killing of Mr. Maurice,” the Castries South MP stated.
