A giant hammerhead shark tried to grab a catch from a fisherman’s hand in the United States, local news reports say.

The shark tried to take off with the catch which was still on a fishing line.

It was estimated that the shark was some 14 feet long and weighed 1,300 pounds.

Rob Gorta – Fisherman

Rob Gorta, who had the encounter with the massive sea creature explained that he did not see the shark coming because he was concentrating on his catch.

“The hammerhead ripped the fish right out of my hands,” he recalled.

“This is a 180 pound fish that it took from me so imagine  the size of the shark,” Gorta, who posted a video of the incident on Youtube said.

  1. It ie better that the shark caught the fish and not you, the fisherman. Most importantly is that you are alive and safe. You can always catch another fish another time.
