Press Release:– The Department of Home Affairs and National Security has been made aware of reports that a group of persons is allegedly going to various domiciles where they would present documents bearing the purported letterhead of the Department of Home Affairs and National Security.

The Department finds those reports to be grossly disturbing and has contacted the Police in an attempt to obtain   reliable information in case reports were made about this activity.

Additionally, it would be viewed as highly unlikely that this arm of government is the one that would undertake an exercise of voter registration and verification.

In the interests of  public safety the Department of Home Affairs and National Security wants to assure the public that the Department is not associated with any such activity.

Therefore, the Department advises that persons should remain on the alert and watchful when approached by strangers.

Members of the public are also encouraged to inform the Police of anyone who may have approached them purporting to be officers of the Department of Home Affairs and National Security.

There is a Police hotline that members of the public should save on their phones  so that they can speed dial the police in relation to this activity.

The number is 45crime or 4527463.

  1. This press release is so unnecessary… the “warning” was making the rounds since last year when elections were due in St Kitts and other Caribbean islands…and has now re-surfaced.
We are not in election mode and normally don’t refer to the ‘Department of Home Affairs ‘ or the ‘Home Office’. Rather we refer to the ‘Electoral Department ‘ or ‘Electoral Office’.
We need to use our heads and stop just forwarding any and everything that is posted on social media platforms before analyzing the content of the message. Many posts especially those related to “wanted” individuals supposedly “armed and dangerous” emanate from other islands and do not pertain to Saint Lucia. Otherwise, it would be an official release from the Police Department.
